Business intelligence is firmly back on the public agenda for with nods towards the so-called 'big data' topic. We're seeing this through the steady stream of briefing requests, events and announcements coming out from the vendor community along with close scrutiny of earnings announcements. This is supported by field feedback that confirms a significant number of businesses are ready to move beyond technology refresh to intelligence based decision making.
So no-fun modus for me and kind of specific requirements. The good things will follow next week until then I should probably have found something new and awesome. Just to clarify: This is just my developers point of view, the end-user experience should be completely different.
Gartner research shows users care more about look and feel of BI than about integration with other enterprise apps. Much of Gartner's business intelligence BI research focuses on customer satisfaction and usability. Two of the biggest takeaways from several Gartner reports released over the past few months are the poor satisfaction rating mobile BI received in the face of its high popularity and the poor performance of big vendors compared to their smaller counterparts.

We recently completed our second joint case study with Microsoftdescribing the work we did with one of our Cloud PowerPivot clients, Building Materials Distributors. This was a fun project to watch. Because the good folks at BMD did the work — all we did was give them the environment in which they could do it. But I think this one will come in handy for PowerPivot Pros who are advocating broader adoption at their companies.
